Why do you need a foundation brush?

Foundation is quite literally the base of good makeup. It’s crucial for ensuring your favorite makeup look is impeccable – which the correct foundation brush helps you achieve.

Foundation comes in many different forms: powder, cream, liquid, even gel. In general, liquid foundation is best suited for those with dry skin, due to its moisturizing qualities, while compact foundation or a mattifying powder works well for oily skin.

The foundation brush that’s right for you depends on the type of foundation you use. A foundation brush with an angled brush head is a real all-rounder you can mimic your fingertip’s subtle movements with, allowing you to blend your foundation into your skin precisely and quickly. It’s great for liquid and cream foundations but also works for powder types.

A foundation brush with soft, flat bristles and a curved cut allows it to adapt to your unique face shape and evenly blend your foundation, even in difficult areas. We recommend a brush with an angled shape, tightly bound bristles and a flat form for the narrow areas of your face. It enables you to get a medium coverage without needing to apply multiple layers.

How do you use a foundation brush?

When it comes to applying foundation, what’s most important is getting an even result. Ideally, your foundation color closely matches your natural skin tone – but if you're not sure, it’s better to choose a lighter shade over a darker one; otherwise, you might end up with unwanted streaks.

If you prefer using liquid foundation, you can apply your foundation to the back of your hand first, and from there pick up the foundation with your makeup brush and apply it to your skin. When applying foundation with a brush, it’s best to blend starting from the center of your face and move outwards. Or you can dab it directly onto your face and then blend well. If you prefer powder or compact foundations, you can increase their coverage by moistening your foundation brush.
